Some days the ideas just will not come, and finding photography inspiration feels impossible. For me, the answer is almost always light. I follow the sun, the way it spills through a window in the morning or sets a whole street glowing at dusk, and suddenly the ordinary looks worth photographing again. Inspiration is rarely about exotic places; it is about learning to really see the light around you.
There is a particular kind of quiet in solo photography that I have come to love. Shooting alone, with no one to wait on and no one to please, I notice more: small details, shifting light, the mood of an empty place. What can feel like loneliness slowly becomes focus. Some of my most honest images were made on these solitary walks, camera in hand, completely lost in the moment.
Few conditions transform a landscape like a heavy morning haze, which is why I love fog and mist photography. When smoke seems to hang on the water and shapes melt into soft grey, the scene becomes simple, quiet and full of mood. The trick is to arrive early, expose a little brighter than your meter suggests, and look for a single strong subject to anchor all that beautiful emptiness.
